Stanley Nwabali has won Nigerians’ hearts with his performances at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Ivory Coast. So, when he was taken off injured in the round of 16 clash with Cameroon, the fear across Nigeria was understandable.
Therefore, news of his training with Super Eagles teammates yesterday was heartwarming. Now, Nigerians want to know if he will be facing off the boisterous Angola side as the AFCON quarterfinals begin on Friday.
‘You go play?’
Knowing Nigerians are anxious, Nwabali made a post on X (Twitter).
He wrote: “Thanks to everyone that checked up and showed disquiet in one way or the other at this strenuous time, I appreciate.
We’re all human and anything is prone to happen. Onto the next one! (sic).
However, Nigerians simply want to know if he will be manning the sticks on Friday. They know the confidence, swag and spirit he brings to game. So this post, although welcomed, is not enough.
See some if the reactions to the post:
DaddyMO asked: “You go play against Angola abi you no go play against Angola? This one whey you dey quote parables which way oooo?”
It’s Pidgin English for: “Are you playing against Angola or not? What’s up with this parable you’re quoting?”
Responding to DaddyMO, Olanrewaju Kehinde Adeleke said: “Calm down e go play. I watched dere training session today in Abidjan.” (Calm down, he will play. I watched them train in Abidjan).
And Adesewa told Adeleke: “God bless you for sharing this news.”
